Fall 2018 Scholarships for Current Undergraduate & Transfer Students

The College of Business offers many scholarships specifically designated for our Business students. Additional funding may be available through NIU scholarships and private funds, including merit scholarships for new incoming students.

*Maximum awards may not be available each year.

  • Minimum GPA 2.75
  • Preference given to McHenry/DuPage county residents
  • Must be accepted into (or completed) upper level classes: Finance 320, Management 335 and Marketing 310
  • Applicant must have worked for and saved for part of his/her tuition and not otherwise qualify for financial aid.

The Professor Pam A. Smith Endowed BELIEF Scholarship
Details >

  • Must be an NIU College of Business student
  • Must demonstrate financial need (recipient of loans or a work study student)
  • Must be in good standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Scholarship form must be completed and submitted to the Director of BELIEF by January 31st of every year
  • Can personally demonstrate the importance and impact of ethical decision-making

Richard D. Brown and Omer G. Voss, Jr. Leadership Award
Details >

  • A part- or full-time, junior, senior, or graduate student seeking a degree in the College of Business
  • Is eligible to enroll at Northern Illinois University and has a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Identified by faculty or academic advisors as having leadership potential. For example, the preferred candidate may not be the typical leader, in the sense of being a strong, stand-out, vocal person, but one who has the quiet confidence and potential necessary for a leadership role, and may need encouragement and mentorship “to step outside of his/her comfort zone”
  • Is willing to participate in experimental learning which will give him/her the opportunities to exercise leadership skills
