Rebecca Shortridge, Ph.D., the Donald E. Kieso Endowed Chair, is currently serving as the chair of the Department of Accountancy. She earned her Ph.D. at Michigan State University and both a B.S. in Accounting and an MBA from Indiana University.
At NIU Rebecca primarily teaches a business valuation course that is part of the Master of Accounting Science program. For her work in this course, she received the Mark Chain/FSA Innovation in Graduate Teaching Award in 2009 and 2013. Her research has focused both on pedagogical issues in accounting and the impact of non-financial disclosures on capital markets. Her work has been published in Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Accounting Education, Journal of Business Finance & Accounting, Accounting Horizons and others. Rebecca is the president-elect of the Federation of Schools of Accountancy.
