Core Requirements

The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) requires that you take the majority of the professional course work in your degree program during your junior and senior years.

The College of Business offers six undergraduate programs: accountancy, business administration, finance, management, marketing, and operations and information management. To enroll in FINA 320, MGMT 335 and MKTG 310, you must have completed the following requirements:

  • A minimum of 45 earned credits
  • A minimum 2.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA) (NIU and transfer GPA)

You must also pass the following prerequisite courses with a grade of C or better:

  • ACCY 206, Introduction to Financial Accounting
  • ACCY 207, Introduction to Cost Management
  • MGMT 217, Legal Environment of Business
  • UBUS 223, Introduction to Business Statistics
  • ECON 260, Principles of Microeconomics
  • ECON 261, Principles of Macroeconomics
  • ENGL 203, Rhetoric and Composition II or ENGL 204, Rhetoric and Composition
  • MATH 211, Calculus for Business and Social Science or MATH 229, Calculus I
  • OMIS 259, Introduction to Business Information Systems
  • PSYC 102, Introduction to Psychology
  • UBUS 100, Career Compass
    • UBUS 100, Career Compass, is required of all business majors who began at NIU as freshmen
